In the UK, 12.5 million working days were lost due to mental health problems, such as stress, depression and anxiety, in the twelve months captured by the HSE’s 2016/17 statistics, making it one of the most significant causes of work-related sickness absence.
For Mental Health Awareness Week 2018, we've prepared this feature to help employers understand and manage mental health problems in their workforce. By doing so, they may see a fall in the amount of working days lost due to sickness absence, a reduction in staff turnover, and increased efficiency and quality of work, all while also developing a better reputation as an employer that attracts and keeps talent, and maybe even customers.
This feature includes:
• Understanding mental health problems.
• Managing stress points in the workplace.
• Making reasonable adjustments.
